In today’s Friday Finale historical photo, we revisit another iconic name in professional women’s bass fishing, Chris Houston.  The photo dates back to 1983, to a then 36-year-old angler, but you’d have to go back another dozen years or more to when you would start finding her name pop up in local newspapers for her early catches and tourney appearances.

One news story that year dubbed her “the Bill Dance, Roland Martin, and Tom Mann of women’s bass fishing, all rolled into one person.”  By the time this photo appeared, she had already won the Bass’N Gal AOY title 5 times, along with 6 individual tournament wins, and a Bass’N Gal Classic title (1977).  Over a span of 7 years and 36 events on the circuit, she had never failed to weigh a bass, and cashed checks in 29 out of 36 events, accumulating over $100,000 in winnings.  And that’s not to mention everything she accomplished in the years that followed, and the other circuits she fished.
