Today’s historical news photo is short but sweet. I came across this 1979 picture of legendary Ozark angler, Stacey King. Stacey would have been right about 30 years old at the time and was being recognized as the newspapers ‘Angler of the Month’ for a nearly 8 pound bass he had caught out of Table Rock Lake. Probably no surprise for the time, but the fish came on a Zara Spook topwater, a bait that Charlie Campbell had resurrected from near death only four years earlier. Though the picture is of pretty poor quality, I thought it was worth capturing and sharing.
