Mike "Ike" Iaconelli fishes Manasquan Reservoir in New Jersey.

Right about the time he was getting his first taste of Bassmaster tournament trail competition, and nearly a decade before he’d score his infamous Classic title, Ike, fishing out of a small custom boat on a local reservoir, made the paper’s “image of the week.” This shot was taken as part of a larger story on water pollution in local New Jersey waters.

The original caption for this piece read:  Michael Iaconelli, Howell Township, casts a line for largemouth bass in the Manasquan Reservoir, one area location where the fish have been found to be contaminated with mercury. Iaconelli said he knows about the contamination and fishes for sport, not food.
