There’s a reasonably good chance that if you check your fishing library, you’ll find a book or two written by today’s Friday Finale historical photo subject, Larry Larsen.  Beyond the numerous books that he has written (nearly two dozen to date) are an even greater number of articles that have appeared in most every major sporting publication you could name.

Just a few of his more popular bass fishing books include:

  • Larsen on Bass Tactics
  • Angler’s Guide to Bass Patterns
  • Bass Pro Strategies
  • Bass Fishing Facts
  • Bass Guide Tips

He founded his own publishing company, Larsen’s Outdoor Publishing, in 1983.  He was also inducted into the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, Wisconsin as a “Legendary Angler” in 1999.

Today’s photo dates to 1973 and comes from an article Larry wrote for Fishing Facts magazine about structure fishing for bass in Florida’s natural lakes.  It was one of his earliest paid articles as an outdoor writer, his first being in 1972.
