For this week’s Throwback Thursday historical photo, a great behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the old BASSMASTERS television show. In this case, it was Gary Klein in the front of the boat and Chuck Roberts in back, being filmed by the studio crew from Oklahoma on California’s Clear Lake.
According to the article, the group filmed for four days in order to get all the footage necessary for the television show. While the first three days were tough, they hit paydirt on day 4. “Throwing brownish Gitzits on 6-pound-test line with light gear near the docks, Klein and show host Chuck Roberts landed and released more than 30 pounds of largemouth bass in the first couple of hours of filming.”
They were also able to get Roberts landing a 7-pounder, and on two consecutive casts by the pair, they had double hookups with all four fish weighing over three pounds each.
