If you’re a long-time fan of the Bass Master Classic, here’s a picture you should recognize. It’s Jimmy Houston holding up his 6-12 largemouth caught at his first Classic in 1975 at Currituck Sound, NC. Houston’s fish not only got him big fish for the first day of the event, it held for big fish for the tournament. Jack Hains went on to win the event, coming from behind to beat Paul Chamblee.

Here’s the original AP Wirephoto Caption:  “Largest Catch: Jimmy Houston of Tahlequah, Okla., poses with a 6-pound, 12-ounce largemouth bass, the largest fish caught Thursday at the Bassmasters’ Classic in Nags Head, N.C..”
