In today’s Friday Finale historical photo, a great shot of a pair of legends in professional bass angling – Ray Scott and Guido Hibdon. The photo was part of the coverage of the final event on the 1991 Tour schedule, the Arkansas Bassmaster Top 100 held on Bull Shoals Lake.

Tommy Biffle took the opening day lead with a sack of bass weighing 17 pounds but would ultimately slip over the following days and end up in 19th place. Behind Biffle by less than a pound was Jerry Guest, who fared better, and wound up fourth. Arkansas’ Ron Shuffield would ultimately come out on top at this event, but one of the bigger stories was that of Guido Hibdon.

Hibdon started out in 20th place after Day one but was very close to wrapping up his second consecutive Angler of the Year title, a feat that had previously only been accomplished by Roland Martin half a dozen years previous. He was being chased in the AOY race by Guy Eaker who sat behind Guido in second and opened up day one not terribly far behind him in 34th place.

Guido would slowly creep up the leaderboard, finishing tenth in the event, and winning $5,500 in the process, while Guy would slip down to 55th place. More importantly though, Guido ultimately secured the AOY title for a second time, joining Roland in that rare space, a feat that the great Kevin VanDam would later match and accomplish.
