In today’s Friday Finale, we look at another historical photo of a Florida angler to finish off the week. Bernie Schultz was already a local force in Florida bass tournaments well before this 1987 picture appeared in The Palm Beach Post. Along with partner Tom Burke, the pair had won numerous events in the early 80s, some of which were back-to-back title defenses, before he made the leap and jumped on the BASSmaster tournament trail full-time in 1984. Although he had previously fished a single Florida Invitational/East event in 1982, he also had a Red Man Florida Division points title under his belt at the time (1985). He would later become an illustrator for B.A.S.S. publications and to date has racked up 356 bass tournament appearances (and still counting), including 9 Classic qualifications.
