Today’s historical photo takes us back to one of the most controversial subjects in Bassmaster history – boat racing. Do you recognize Alton Jones behind the wheel of this bass boat, navigating the obstacle course set up for this Bassmaster special event back in August 2000? Angler scoring was a combined effort of the day’s bass catch along with an obstacle course speed trial. After two days, Gary Klein held the lead despite only weighing two bass that second day. That was because of his record time in the obstacle course on day one of 58.10 seconds, followed up with a 59.73 second run on Day 2, the third fastest that day.
